This Principal Associate position plays a critical role in supporting our Cafe people leaders through their people processes, problems, strategies and talent management systems. Capital One is continuing to expand our retail presence by adding locations that extend our successful Cafe model found in major cities throughout the country. Our Capital One Cafe is a welcoming environment where customers can try out our digital and financial tools, grab a great cup of coffee and get to know our Ambassadors (and each other). It's a place where they can recharge their mobile devices, plug into some free WiFi and learn new ways to save time and money. In addition to supporting the Cafe leadership team this HRBP will be a key member of our Channels & Operations HR team and get the opportunity to impact our front-line Cafe associates, enabling them to more easily and more consistently serve our customers. They will work directly with the business as they navigate the team and associate performance and talent challenges while also working closely with their HR Business Partner leads to both learn and provide valuable insight and guidance on where we might create efficiencies and achieve a better, more consistent experience as we serve our frontline population.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provides HR services to enable real-time business support, increasing the overall business efficiency and HR operations.

  • Deliver operational excellence of HR programs and acceptance of core HR processes (i.e., Associate Satisfaction, Performance Management, Staffing, Leadership Development and Change Management) across Cafes

  • Utilizes HR metrics and measures to help the organization understand and action on human capital trends and areas of risk - telling the story of the associate experience with HR data.

  • Directly support clients to ensure that they are effective in making people decisions and refining their people management skills. (e.g. managing, coaching and developing associates; setting objectives; performance reviews; talent development and experiential learning).

  • Assist with advanced and/or escalated Associate Relations disciplinary or performance management matters.

  • Collaborate with HR partner groups on the design of key HR programs: provide feedback, input, and change management considerations to ensure that end products are relevant, applicable and achieve desired end results

  • Participate in national and regional business initiatives/projects, lending expertise on people related matters especially Talent Management and organizational design

  • Travel 25%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of client facing experience or consulting experience or a combination of both

  • At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience supporting frontline, non-exempt partner populations

  • Professional Human Resources Certification
