Job Description

Develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems and activities. Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products. Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

We are looking for a Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager located at our Ladysmith, WI manufacturing location.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

The Quality Manager/Continuous Improvement Manager helps to guide and support a team of quality engineers responsible for driving quality process improvements, standardization and modern methods into the manufacturing process. You and your team will collaborate with engineering teams, business partners and other quality functions in order to influence the manufacturing of our products.

Additionally, this role is responsible for leading the Rockwell Operating System compliance and improvements for assigned the Ladysmith site. The ROS is an operating system that uses defined standards, best practices, and a living Connected Enterprise with a lean and continuous improvement culture to create value for our customers and shareholders.

It's driven by engaged and empowered associates at all levels who are focused on exceeding customer expectations and improving productivity across the enterprise.

This role ensures that quality is built into our processes and has the ability to make major impacts on product quality, collaborating with leadership across Quality, Engineering, Product Management, and Operations. The environment fosters a collaborative and innovative approach to work. It is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires a highly motivated individual with a passion for quality improvement and provides appropriate support and leadership in the area of quality control.

This work requires attention to detail, managing multiple priorities and taking actions with minimal direction which may encompass but not limited to the following:

Your Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to employee development, beginning with self, by actively partnering in the talent acquisition and performance management processes, providing continuous performance feedback to direct reports. Develop goals/targets for all direct reports and regularly provide feedback on progress towards those goals.
  • Responsible for Organization Design, Workforce Strategy, Career Development and Mentorship to deliver positive business outcomes. Provide leadership and motivation in the support of best practices, compliance and training initiatives, ensuring timely completion.
  • Understand business objectives and strategies and build alignment and buy-in among the team. Develop and implement strategic plans that supplement and enable senior leadership's plant and business goals within primary functional areas.
  • Collaborate with customers, peers and other Rockwell functions including Sales, Customer Care, Customer Support & Maintenance, Product Quality and Business Units to understand top level business forecasts for all location products, and understand and manage changes due to new products, series changes, and gain consensus on how to address issues.
  • Responsible for anticipating and meeting the information needs of all organizational levels, comprehending the needs and requirements of customers or business partners and providing status updates to key functional areas on top issues.
  • Accountable for measuring, reporting and positively impacting financial performance and key metrics for the operations team including safety, quality, customer delivery, and productivity improvement while integrating and streamlining processes throughout the supply chain and ensuring adoption of best practices to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Help your team eliminate cost of poor quality by leading improvement activities in design, manufacturing, and supplier quality capabilities and processes so your team is best in class in helping to create robust, reliable and consistently manufacturable products
  • Conduct Customer visits for issue investigation, issue status updates and issue follow up after resolution
  • Apply advanced knowledge of production operations to identify and/or solve highly complex business problems and improve our ability to comply with objectives and improve responsiveness to customer requirements
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing appropriate support and leadership in the Quality for Operations activities within the Ladysmith manufacturing facility
  • Develop and certify other people as Lean & CE leaders within site.
  • Coaches Lean & CE practitioners in process improvements
  • Coach & Mentor across the site to support a cultural transformation anchored in Lean Principles & Ideal Behaviors
  • Ensure problem solving strategy is defined and executed across site and certify people in A3 Root Cause Problem Solving

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Manufacturing/Quality/ Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality engineering, engineering or manufacturing in manufacturing environments, with applied knowledge of Lean & Six Sigma methodologies
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in a quality or manufacturing environment
  • Certification in LEAN, Six SIGMA Black Belt, CQM, AQE is desired
  • Preference given to candidates with a PEO P.Eng. license, and designations in American Society for Quality (ASQ) and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and managing teams.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills required for procedure writing and communication when dealing with all levels of the organization.
